The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, through the Lebanese Embassy in Caracas, followed up on the conditions of the members of the Lebanese community in Venezuela following the major earthquake that struck the country. It expressed Lebanon’s depth of grief and its sincere solidarity with Venezuela and its people in this painful ordeal, and offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims who died as a result of this disaster, wishing a speedy recovery to all the wounded. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, issued instructions to the embassy to provide all forms of support and assistance to the members of the community, and to communicate directly with them to check on their conditions and meet their needs. Raji is informed that the Lebanese residing in Venezuela are all fine, and that no human casualties have been recorded among them, but the Lebanese embassy building in Caracas suffered some material damage as a result of the earthquakes. The Ministry is closely following developments in the field situation, and confirms its continued communication with the Lebanese community until the safety of all its members is fully confirmed.
